Causes of Severe Itching

Scabies Infestation?

I found that the causes of severe itching all over my daughter's body, which our whole family eventually caught, was due to a scabies infestation.

As we analyzed her visits we back tracked the host of the scabies infection came from her grandmother, who was itching like crazy. Grandma then found out that she got it from visiting a sister during the Christmas vacation. Which sister got if from a promiscuous ex-husband. Yes, scabies is a STD.

We soon realized that getting rid of scabies was a daunting task and many times I felt we were loosing the battle against it.

Some people might think that it is a hygene issue. I'd say, how about catching it yourself and tell me if your theory is true. That is a bunch of bull. No matter how much you scrub. These mites are burrowed under your skin and mearly washing your body with soap will not kill them. Believe me! I know.

You will have to see a Doctor to get prescription medicine. Our Doctor prescribed a medicine called Permethrin Cream 5%. One application is not enough. We were still itching the next day. Apparently you have to do at least 3 treatments of this highly toxic cream. I found it contains an insecticide called malathion, something we used on our farm to kill pesky bugs. Imagine the horror of having to put this highly toxic cream on your children's body.

Another thing the Doctor failed to inform us about was the fact that your whole house needs to be disinfected, with the correct killing agents, or else you will be infected again, the very next day.

Remember that scabies is highly contagious and your whole environment will need to be treated in order for you to get rid of it. Your family and friends all those with whom you work or live closely with will need to be informed, they may have caught it too.

If overlooked, and mis-diagnosed, this mite will cause severe itching for months, and on to years. See a Doctor immediately. Or, do as I did, order a natural home remedy kit. It worked immediately and we sae results immediately. Literally before our eyes the mites were dying.

So, if you've tried every over the counter remedy like Allegra, Claritin, Zyrtec or any other antihistamine, and even go to lengths of rubbing hydrocortisone on your body and you are still suffering from severfe itching then it may be a sign of some other thing. Maybe scabies.

Even if you've seen a general Practitioner and he took your itching lightly, I'd suggest seeing a Dermatologist or ask to get a skin test done to really be sure of your severe itching problem.

Could it be Bed Bugs?

Check your mattress and headboards for black critters. My aunty just moved into a new apartment not knowing that it was infested with bed bugs or mites. Her bites were so bad it sent her to the ER where she needed to be placed on an I.V. with antibiotics.

These are also found in college dormroom beds. You can get a NIX bug product to spray on your bed. Be careful, the product is very toxic, it also includes malathion in the ingredients which is a chemical used in the fields.

Or try a natural home remedy like the one we used for scabies.
